New Challenge, this time with FEELING!
http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2011/09/07/a-chance-to-do-something-nice-for-a-comics-fan-who-could-use-a-little-niceness/
I just saw this article and it made me think this might be an awesome challenge for us to do. Check the link and then come back.
I'll wait....
Okay, so how awesome would it be to do some badass Superman drawings for this guy? I'm thinking pretty damn awesome.
So that's it: do a Superman drawing and send it to this guy, perhaps personalized so he really gets a kick outta it! The size/material/deadline is up to you, but it'd be cool if we could send this stuff off sooner, rather than later.
Because we like (hate) deadlines, let's shoot for the end of September.
So there you go, Skeletons! A chance to nail a badass challenge, and to help someone out at the same time!
GO!!

Party time! Excellent!
So i was trying to think of a good movie to do for the poster thing and i figured why not do one of my all time favorites! Wayne's World! I know this poster doesnt do it much justice but all of their official posters were pretty awful so i feel its still ok! Sorry about the lettering but i figured it was better to turn one in kinda sloppy than not turn one in at all! The idea behind this i think is better than the execution and i have some ideas for simpler posters but overall this is the one that i think i liked the most so i took it this far.
Anyone else attempting this before the deadline!?

Smells like a Summer's Eve!
So, what's that challenge gonna be? Something I've been getting into lately, and would like to try out...
Making a movie poster!
I've been checking out alot of those awesome mondo posters and gallery 1988 stuff, and there's all kinds of awesome new posters being made for classic and cult movies, and it seems like a blast.
There's a few rules
1. Your poster must be awesome.
2. Your poster must have the production information on it somewhere, like at the bottom of a legit movie poster.
3. Your poster must include some form of radical-ness.
You get bonus points for actually printing your poster, and showing a picture of it in your hands / on your wall. The idea is to make something that is ready to be sold either online, or have them ready to be printed and sold at a con, or theater.
Good luck ya bums! Thea deadline's July 29th! ( because I can't remember if July has 30 days or 31 days, and never learned that knuckle jumping thing that teaches kids that information. )

A Few Commissions of People's Pets
Here are a few commissions i did in the past year or so off and on of peoples dogs. I mostly do this through the Hello Bully Charity (an organization to help change the way people view pit bulls, as well as rescue them from dangerous situations). They are in order from latest to oldest.
Sometimes they get kinda silly, but overall i usually have a decent amount of fun doing them.
There are a few older ones i cant find on my hard drive right now, but here's just a quick few to keep the blog alive, and to prove to Jeff I haven't been sitting on my hands for the past few days.

Busy few days off
Just thought I would post some progress of my current project. Just finished thumbnailing the whole first issue/chapter. Roughly 64 pages...it was only supposed to be 32 but I kinda got carried away! I'm really excited about the whol thing! Love the story that my friend Stacy wrote what seems like forever ago! Finally getting over this creative slump and it feels good! I also have 4pages just about done and another 4 fully laid out wth rough pencils! I'm sure the end result is a while off but I wanted to post SOMETHING right now!
Hope everyone else is feein as productive as I am lately!
Brunt Killmaim: Chop Jock
Well, I've been slowly crawling out of the depths of skill atrophy, and in so doing, I've started work on a soon-to-be webcomic.
The idea is that I can work on it in the limited time I have at home, and explore a new approach to my art without stressing over the whole deal.
The result is going to be an over-the-top fantasy comedy that I hope will be fun to read and not too hard on the eyes. Ah well...at least I've always had a knack for self-deception!
So here's a big dump of arts to peruse. I'll post more here as I make 'em.
I'm posting this stuff on FB and DA, so if you all get sick of it, lemme know!

It's not "done" per se....
Okay, so I'm a tool. I started inking this thing like, two weeks ago and then got all hot and horny over the webcomic idea, so I stopped.
To be honest, I probably won't finish this in any reasonable amount of time, but I thought I'd post how much was done. Sorry, but getting back into drawing for A REASON, as in this challenge, actually opened the door to some inspiration!
So, in that respect, I think this was a success for me!
I'll probably start posting Killmaim stuff here, since it's like a sketch blog, but we'll see.
Anyway, thanks for the challenge, Eric! Hopefully I'll get more on board with the next one. ;)

Prelimmmmmms
Heres my prelim sketches for the cover, i think im going to go with the bottom left idea in the outline...its inspired by jeffs idea and also my original idea...so thanks for letting me rip you off in advance! The other ideas from left to right, a kind of 3 panel thing with him choking out the dummy...kinda weird i guess, then one where commish gordon is tied up in the Ventriloquists kitchen with Scarface threatening that batman will never find him and they will kill him as soon as they finish their breakfast...and of course all the time the Ventriloquist is drinking...classic gag. I was also toying with the idea of the doll in a room filled with babies dressed just like him and him taunting batman...Would you dare risk killing an inocent child! and he would obviously look way different but batman couldnt tell!
Oh well...thankfully its my day off and i live right in the middle of a copy store and a burger king within walking distance so i ran out and made some copies got some lunch and am starting on the cover/pinup now! I was gonna make the commissioner actually Robin or put Robin at the feet of the badguy with the downed cops but it seemed too tacked on.

Winning!
Quick Bats sketch
It's true! Not a hoax! Not a trick! Actual update/artwork!
So I whipped up a quick layout for my challenge illo and thought I'd throw it up.
I'm generally okay with it, but I've got to fiddle with the composition a tad, as the area around Scarface's Tommygun and Batman's fists/batarangs is too muddled.
Anyway, comment away!

Here comes new challenge(r)!
Ok so the first chalenge in a long while is underway starting tonight! I don't wanna do star wars because I'm midway through a SW pic and it seems unfair, so let's do something else...but WHAT? It could be anything...in fact I know exactly what it should be!
Now before I say what let me just say that I'm making it pretty specific on purpose to eliminate a lot of the wishy washy "what should I do with this character" beginning stages.
So the challenge is:
Batman vs the ventriliquist and scarface (I think that's the puppets name)
Either a pinup or a cover (with or without text).
Let me know what you think...deadline is 2 weeks from now...so 3/22/2011...enjoy!
Feel free to post your progress or ideas at anytime.

Paddy, page 2, 1 year after the first page
At this rate, I can do a comic every 22 years! Not bad!
sigh
Anyway, here's the 2nd page ( of 3, so don't go getting high cholesterol or anything or you might not live long enough to see the last page...) The first page is down there. Waaaaaaaay down there, just keep scrolling, If I can figure out how, I'll pop it in this post to avoid scrolling finger cramps.
I'm pretty happy with it, I spent forever trying to figure out the background in the last panel and I must have done it a couple times, I shouldn't have faked the perspective, if I would have taken the time to do it right the first time, I probably would have saved myself a month or 2.
I've also been trying to work clean, which means drawing a page then lightboxing it, which has been working ok, but doing everything twice kind of makes me a little bored of the page as it goes, so I don't know if that's the best method for me. I started laying out the third page, and I'm shooting for 1 month! Wish me luck!
EDITED!
added the first page, from feb. 5th, 2010

Rekindling challenges?
Testing this new blogger app so I might as well ask. Would anyone out there be interested in trying the challenges again? Just a thought.
Baby steps
OK so i know this isnt much of anything. But hey, its something! I bought a new brush and ink today and really wanted to test it out, so i drew up a quick head based on an old sketch which was loosely based on john marsten from Red Dead Redemption and i inked it up...then i wasnt satisfied enough with using the brush so of course i overdid it with inkwash like a total douche!

A Link to the Present
OK so now that i have the internet back...I figured i would post something here for once. So i sketched this out while i should have been working on much more important things this evening. Kind of a hipster/modern day zelda kind of a deal...I was just sketchin around and this idea popped in there. The guy is loosely based off of a friend of mine, and the rest loosely based on...uh zelda i guess. Hopefully i;ll post a lot more stupid stuff like this in the future...and HOPEFULLY so will the rest of you!
